The election of 11/2/04 in Mecklenburg county resulted in democrats gaining a majority of the county commission by claiming the 3 open "at-large" seats. The republican candidates all ran on platforms of greater accountability from the school board. The democrats seemed to unanimously support increased funding for the school system.
